Public space recycling is no small task. Unlike curbside and other well established recycling programs, public space recycling has only recently emerged on the scene.
In fact, in 2005 when the community asked Saint Paul to focus on public space recycling, there were no models throughout North America for how to successfully implement public space recycling programs. Since that time many communities have worked to tackle this issue, because the need for it is clear: Over half of what we still throw away in Minnesota is recyclable! Meaning, reducing our waste by half is possible with the tools that we have right now.
