Environmental Benefit

All materials collected from these pilots are delivered to and processed at the two-stream MRF (Material Recovery Facility) of the City’s recycling partner, Eureka Recycling.

The environmental benefit of a recycling program doesn’t come from putting containers in the park...it comes much later in the process when the materials actually get recycled into new products. For example, making a new aluminum can from old cans results in 90-97% energy savings compared to making a new can from bauxite and other raw materials.
