Mears Park is a Saint Paul treasure. This award winning park was co-designed by an artist and landscape architect and has been honored as a national landmark for outstanding landscape architecture. In all parks, but particularly for Mears Park, converting plastic garbage bins to collect recycling was thought to be, well…unworthy. Why can’t recycling be functional and beautiful too?
The working group for the Mears Park recycling project included the City of Saint Paul, Eureka Recycling, and Public Art Saint Paul, who set Mears Park recycling parameters and goals, and to collaboratively design and implement all aspects of the program.
