On June 26, 2009, recycling in Mears Parks was launched—but the project does not end there. Recycling in Mears Park will studied alongside Como Zoo and the urban park pavilions to determine how the City of Saint Paul can effectively and sustainably replicate and expand public space recycling throughout the city.
For the next six months (and beyond) Eureka Recycling and the City of Saint Paul will track, monitor and analyze the entire system in Mears Park—from the containers in the park to collection to the recycling facility and beyond—to learn what is successful and what is not.
